The KS Chapter has joined other Chapters around the country to join together to provide CM credits via the internet. 2018 Planning Webcast Series is available now!
Upcoming Webcasts – all are at 1 p.m. ET and are approved for 1.5 AICP CM credits:
November 9 — Innovative Financing for Transportation Projects
Speakers: Jodie Misiak and Jennifer Mitchell
Finding the funding for transportation projects can be one of the biggest hurdles when it comes to implementing plans, and is therefore a vital part of the planning process. Across the country, individual projects are approaching this challenge by pulling together packages composed of various sources, including value capture and innovative financing. Meanwhile, states are adjusting their funding programs to focus on regional priorities and performance measurement to ensure they meet the most critical transportation needs with limited dollars. Join Jodie Misiak of WSP (formerly of the Build America Bureau) and Jennifer Mitchell, Executive Director of the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation, to learn about the innovative funding package put together for the Maryland Purple Line light rail project, and the range of transportation reforms Virginia has put in place over the past few years to ensure funding for all modes of transportation.
November 16 — Planning for Wildfire Resiliency
Speaker: Molly Mowery, AICP
From 1980 through October 2018, there have been 16 wildfire events with losses exceeding $1 billion. At the same time, the total footprint of the wildland-urban interface is growing, as are the number of homes in that interface. This has implications for wildfire and emergency management, as a growing number of people are in harm’s way. This webinar will explore the role of planners and land use planning in building communities resilient to wildfires.
